Awww! This makes me smile! I have been wondering how your recovery is going. I am five months out today from my surgery and for fun (I don’t do well following all of these rules that came with our surgery), I ran a mile two days ago with daughter. It was glorious to not be in pain after being in pain with every step I took for a year. My hip flexors aren’t totally happy with me today, but it was worth the mile to know that I can still do it. Oh and I wake surfed today too and that filled my soul as well. I am so grateful that I did the surgery and it sounds like it was a success for you as well. Now I just have to have my other hip done, but the surgeon is hopeful that my microfracture on my other hip will be much smaller than the one I had done in December.   Are you five months out??!! I thought I had mine before you and I’m four months out. I’m so happy you are able to be active again! Doesn’t it feel amazing? I had my follow up today and the doctor said after 6 months we can go back to activity 100 percent. I asked if that included marathon training and he said to check with him at six months. I am hopeful all will go well. When are you having your other hip done?? ReplyCancel

    Ha! You are right! I was only four months on 4/12. Oh man this shelter at home is killing brain cells or maybe it is the home schooling. So, I better slow my roll on my activities I am doing. Here I was thinking I was almost six months out in May and no more restrictions. 🙁 My plan was to do my other hip in November of this year, but Covid 19 might have delayed that for me. My surgeon does 11 surgeries a week and books six months out. He is going to have some catching up to do now. I was suppose to go up to Denver last week for a follow up and start the ball rolling on my other hip, but he isn’t seeing patients right now. A friend of mine in Durango is a big runner like you and often runs twice a day. She had the same surgery as us ten years ago at 40 and just had to get a hip replacement in February. She ran a bunch of races in those ten years. So happy for you and good luck with the rest of your recovery. ReplyCancel

    Oh my goodness! You’re right! On 4/12 I was only four months not five! Ugh! I suppose I better slow my roll on my activities. Here I was thinking I was almost to six months and restriction free in May. This homeschooling and stay at home order is frying my brain.
    A friend of mine, who is a huge runner and sometimes runs twice a day, had our surgery ten years ago and in February she had a hip replacement. She had ten years of great running and did a lot of races. The hip I just had done the surgeon told me has quite a bit of arthritis in it already and will definitely need a hip replacement someday, but he is hoping I can get at least seven good years out of it first. He is hopeful to get to my other hip before it gets as bad and then maybe I can avoid a hip replacement in that one down the road.
    I was planning on having my other hip done in November, but Covid 19 may change that now. My surgeon up in Denver does 11 of these surgeries a week and hasn’t been seeing patients, so I imagine he is going to have some catching up to do when this is all said and done. So we will see…
