I was standing on our deck when he first told us about it. I’m not sure how old I was, but I think it was somewhere around late elementary school. I remember that it was warm. My brother, sister and I were there while my Mom and Dad explained Wednesday Nights. Of course I...
This struck a chord with me. Loved it. Well written, well remembered, well done.
Thank you very much, Carrie.
You really need to publish a book paired with your photography!
Thank you, Amy. That is a little dream I have hidden in my heart. Thank you for the encouragement. . .
My family did something similar to your Wednesday nights suppers, except it was with day-old doughnuts and milk and took place on Friday nights. When Meghan was 2 1/2, my husband had to take an extended overseas trip for 3 months and I wanted something special to do for Meg and me to look forward to each week, so I resurrected the Friday Night Parties from my childhood, except with Dominoes Pizza and Disney movies. We still have Friday Pizza/Movie Nights 24 years later, except it’s with our son now and I’m sure we’ll keep on having them long after he’s flown the coop. It’s wonderful to have these kinds of nights . . . they really do make a lasting memory with your kids.
What a cool idea with day-old donuts! I love that you have continued it with your own family. It really isn’t the details that matter is it, Katie? It’s simply making the time.
You’re such a wonderful Mom.
