Thirty Minutes in the Life {October 2014}

When the weather begins to turn and the clouds creep in.  When we see more gray days than bright ones.  When layers upon layers become the norm.  That’s when we begin to hold tight to is or what was, as we anticipate what it to come.

Weather is a big deal where we live.  We have a saying, ‘if you don’t like the weather here, stick around, it will likely be different in an hour’. (For the record, I totally butchered that quote, but you get the point.) Anyway, it’s true.  We can have really chilly days in the middle of summer and a random warm one in the middle of winter.  For the most part, though, we understand that once October hits, our warm days are numbered.

For that reason, we drink in any moment we can.  If we look at the forecast and see that a warm late October day is on the horizon–we will be celebrating–outside–doing our thing.  That is what happened on this particular evening.  The day started out chilly and overcast and by late afternoon, a shift happened.  The sun stretched her warms rays across our skies and cool air turned warm.  Rather than serving the dinner I had prepared, I threw it in the fridge and we ventured out to a new place and explored.

Just us, out there, doing our thing.

If you’ve visited this space before, you already know that “our thing” is not anything spectacular or note-worthy, or special.

Not special to anyone but us, that is. But more often than not, in the normal, everyday, random “us” moments, if I keep my eyes open, something very special happens.

And tossing dinner in the fridge and eating Wendy’s instead proves to be worth it once again.

Each month I am reminded again and again–30-Minutes goes far to revive the soul.
