Mia

For years, I’ve watched Mia from the sidelines of my daughters soccer games. As a high school player, she was given the (not so easy) task of coaching the elementary players. Last year, I watched as she was given the near impossible task of coaching the Kindergarten and 1st grade students. (A bit like herding cats, as you can imagine.) Mia was kind, patient, and encouraging and firm–just what the tiny players needed.

Mia is quiet and unassuming. She is strong, focused and driven. She loves soccer and showing her enormous pigs at the fair every year. I loved spending time with her and listening as she talked about the year to come and especially all the firsts that will follow. It was also fun to watch how incredibly comfortable she became when she stepped onto the soccer field–so obviously in her element.

Mia, I wish you all the best as you dive into your senior year. May you soak in every moment of it as you anticipate all the exciting things that await you ahead.
